Leadership

Scott is not new to First Methodist Church of Temple.  He began attending First in 1978, when his family moved to Temple from the midwest.  After high school, Scott received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and eventually settled into a career in homebuilding in the DFW metroplex and right here in Central Texas.  In 2009, while attending FUMC Temple, Scott answered his call into the ministry.  He received his Masters of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology at SMU in 2015. Throughout his ministry, Scott has served churches in Nolanville, Texas, Brock, Texas, Granbury, Texas, and, most recently, Round Rock, Texas.Scott and his wife, Christy, have two sons and one daughter-in-law; Nick and his wife, Maddie, who live in Richardson, Texas, and Luke, who lives in Brock, Texas.Scott enjoys playing golf and spending time with his friends and family. 

Melissa has been a member of First Methodist Temple since 1993 and has worked for the church since 1998.  Melissa graduated from Temple College.  

Kay is currently Director of Adult, Women's, and Evangelism Ministries.   She has worked on staff of First Methodist Temple in different capacities since she and her husband became members in 1976.  Forty-three years ago Kay was one of the founders of our Preschool & Mother’s Day Out Program.  She was Director of Children and Family Ministries 1987-2004.  And she served as interim director of our Preschool & Mother’s Day Out Program for one year.

She graduated from Bangs High School and continued her education at Howard Payne University School of Business, Central Texas College, Temple College and SMU Perkins School of Theology.  

She and her husband, Howard, are the parents of three grown children and five grand boys.  Her greatest joys are spending time  sharing God’s love, family, travel, and enjoying old & new friends.

Tara Sutherland became Director of the Preschool & MDO program in June 2018.  She graduated from Belton High School and continued her education at Texas Tech University.  She graduated with a degree in Human Development and Family studies. She has a teaching certificate in Early Childhood - 4th grade.  She taught 1st grade for ten years prior to being the director.  She also attended First Methodist Preschool/MDO as a child.  She lives in Salado with her husband Brian, son Conway, daughter Ellis Mac and dog Brewster.  In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and reading a good book.  

Dr. Bradley has been the organist at First Methodist Temple since 2007 and has served as a church organist since he was 14 years of age.  After graduating from college with a bachelor’s degree, he entered the field of education where he has been a teacher, public school administrator, and university administrator since 1961.  Dr. Bradley currently teaches child development and education classes at Temple College and is a supervisor for alternative certification through the Texas Education Agency.  His graduate degrees are from Texas A&M University/Commerce. He and his wife, Becky, frequently give organ and piano concerts throughout Texas.  Outside of music and teaching, Dr. Bradley enjoys cars, sports, and gardening.

Ellie joined the staff at First Methodist Temple in July 2021. She graduated from Temple College with a degree in Applied Science in Medical Records and worked for Baylor Scott & White for 37 years, during that time she had served in several positions as a unit clerk, customer service representative, secretary, and supervisor.

Ellie and her husband, Drew have been members of First Methodist Temple for 23 years where they have volunteered on the sound system, and currently serve as greeters and ushers.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
